Ducati 999

The Ducati 999 is the brainchild of Pierre Terblanche and it's certainly true that he had a major job on his hands! The bike's predecessors from 916 to 998 symbolised everything that Ducati fans dream of in a bike.
Terblanche's objective was to combine superior rider ergonomics with the magnificent Testastretta engine to produce a bike that would rock the motorcycling world.
The rider's 'experience' was Terblanche's main concern. The seat was lowered by 15mm, the frame was 20mm narrower and the (double sided) swinging arm was 15mm longer. These changes might not sound like much but they dramatically improved the bike's agility and gave the all important stability during acceleration and deceleration that every true Ducatisti seek!
The engine gives a much better spread of power than the 998 and pumps out 124bhp with oodles of torque right where you need it.
The 999 is definately easier to live with than it's older brother the 998 but it still offers a serious adrenaline kick and, once you've learnt all of the adjustment options available to you from suspension to seating, you'll probably find yourself travelling a a much more rapid pace than any of its predecesors.
